Do you know someone who has inspired you? Someone that deserves national recognition for all the good work they do? Here is your chance to nominate them for the prestigious Inyathelo Awards.
Inyathelo - the South African Institute for Advancement hosts the annual Inyathelo Philanthropy Awards to celebrate South African change-makers who have contributed their time, effort and personal money to make a lasting difference to the lives of other South Africans. There are also special awards for those individuals outside of South Africa who have contributed financially to social change in South Africa.
The Inyathelo Awards are not about how much money the nominee has given, but the lasting difference their contribution has made. One such example is the story of Bridgette Mamugubudi.
Bridgette opened her home in Venda to orphans, toddlers of teenage
parents and kids who had no one to care for them after school. In just two
years, she managed to build a children’s home and a hospice on land donated by
the chief of her village. With the help of volunteers in her community,
Bridgette now looks after 150 children each day and provides primary healthcare
services to those that are sick.
At the 2011 Inyathelo Philanthropy
Awards, Bridgette was
honoured as the awardee for Community Philanthropy.
Deadline for
Nominations: Friday 29 June 2012
